Fiori Being the Best UI in Enterprise Software

SAP has made some exaggerated claims about Fiori. However, one of note was the following by Jim Hagemann.

“We’ve come a long way from the old SAP GUI,” he said. “The challenge is clear. We are no longer benchmarking against some other business software, because most of them are not very beautiful. We are benchmarking against consumer software. We’re committed to providing the most exciting user experience in the industry.” – SAP co-CEO Jim Hagemann

We covered this in the article How to Best Understand the Strange Changes in the Count of Fiori apps.

Hasso Plattner added onto this that with Fiori, SAP now had the best UI in enterprise software.

The Truth About Fiori

We have used Fiori and cannot tell what SAP is referring to. Fiori ranks nowhere close to the best UIs that we have tested. In our rating of 53 applications, which can be seen at our MUFI Ratings, we rate the user interfaces of PlanetTogether, DemandWorks, and ArenaSolutions far higher than Fiori. And in terms of actual usability, Fiori is behind UIs that we used eight years ago.

Secondly, not only is Fiori extremely little used (making its quality of less importance) with the vast majority of people that use SAP (the non-acquired products) still using the SAPGUI. Furthermore, we question whether Fiori will survive in the article Understanding Why Fiori Won’t be Able to Survive.

Conclusion and Calculation

SAP receives a 0% accuracy rating on Fiori being the best UI in enterprise software and so far beyond any other UI that there was nothing for SAP to benchmark against.
