Introduction

The majority of money and opportunities that are taken from people in the US face are from people with a white collar rather than thugs and criminals. Staying away from thugs is pretty simple for those with average intelligence or above. However, thieves come in a variety of packages and the ones that are good at posing as legitimate are the most difficult to figure out. Interestingly, much of the interaction with thieves is optional. I have drastically improved my life by removing some categories of people from my life, and I wanted to share the benefits.

Individuals Who Work in Finance

A high percentage of people who work in finance are thieves. This includes everything from financial advisors to people that work on Wall Street. Finance is the perfect place to be to steal. Whether its wrecking the economy or taking people’s pensions while paying themselves enormous bonuses, people working in finance are always looking to line their pockets with other people’s money.

The Pitch:

People in finance lure you in by promising to improve their financial condition. They will give you a higher return on your money, or they will get you a good load on real terms, etc.. Their role is to appeal to your greed to peel money out of your account. For instance, many mutual funds do not even declare all of their fees. Essentially the less you speak to financial professionals, the better off you are.

  • Stay away from financial advisors
  • Never, outside of buying a house need to buy money
  • Never get into a situation where you “need money.”
  • Pick low risk and uncomplicated investments
  • Stay away from mortgage brokers and get your house loan from a credit union, or from a quality bank like USAA

Lawyers

The ethical component of lawyers does not have to be rehashed here. Lawyers contribute very little to society and work a corrupt system called the “legal system” which is rigged and where they understand how to play it. Lawyers offer some value in defending individuals versus powerful interests, but in actuality, it would be far more efficient to regulate these things rather than litigate them. Lawyers do so little that they are trained to write in a way that is not understandable to obscure the fact that they do close to nothing. Here are some ways to stay aware from lawyers.

  • Don’t get married and therefore don’t get divorced.
  • Do whatever you can to stay away from situations where you have to sue or be sued.

Physicians

Dealing with physicians is necessary to access modern medical care, some of which is good. However, there is also a lot of fraud and unscientific things being done in the name of medicine and of course in the name of making money. Many doctors become doctors strictly for the money. Most are in bed with the pharmaceutical companies and are compensated and monitored by pharmaceutical companies. Pharmaceutical companies have co-opted the FDA’s approval process, so FDA approved means close to nothing at this point.

  • Maintain your health so that doctors are less necessary
  • Use physicians for necessary surgeries and basic checkups

The rule with regards to US health care is simple, higher use of health care does not translate into better outcomes.

Bosses in Hierarchical Organizations

One of the major ways that people are stolen from is at work. Since 1973 the average US worker has doubled their productivity, but the average income has gone down 5%. On a daily basis, workers are ripped off by people that expropriate their labor and effort. Most bosses screw over and control their employees rather than help them and guide them.

  • When possible, develop more autonomy in your work by becoming an independent contractor, working for yourself, etc… This is not possible in the majority of circumstances, but it’s good to keep in the back of your mind that your boss is most likely not looking out for you.
