Why Are Some Natural Supplements Treatments For Covid?

Executive Summary

  • Some natural supplements have been shown to be effective for fighting covid.
  • This article reviews the implications of this observation.

Introduction

While reviewing the treatments for covid, I found something of interest regarding the natural supplements that were as effective as drugs like Ivermectin.

This brings up the question of whether these natural supplements are good to take for general immune system function.

Treatments for Covid

The following screenshots are from the website C19 Early, which tracks treatments for covid. Note the treatment name and then the improvement versus covid right next to it. The next important value is the number of studies performed.

The medical establishment does not want people to read this website, because it demonstrates how rigged their advice is to the public. Optimally, no studies would be published and the FDA would simply approve them, and the public would just trust their decision. Does that seem like an extreme statement. Look at this quote about the time the FDA has asked for to provide information to the public on the approval of the vaccines.

The Food and Drug Administration is asking a judge to give it 75 years to produce data concerning the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine, up 20 years from a previous request.

The FDA told the court it can work faster than its previously proposed 500-pages-per-month rate, but it also said there are more than 59,000 more pages than mentioned in an earlier filing.

That discovery, and a desire to make sure it can work on other Freedom of Information Act requests at the same time, prompted the fresh request to the judge to allow production of roughly 12,000 pages by Jan. 31, 2022, and 500 pages per month thereafter.

The group filed the lawsuit (pdf) after the FDA denied their request to expedite the release of the records. The plaintiff and the defendant, unable to reach an agreement on a disclosure schedule, are seeking a hearing to argue their cases before the judge, who may eventually make a decision in that regard.

“The FDA’s promise of transparency is, to put it mildly, a pile of illusions,” Aaron Siri, whose firm is representing PHMPT in the lawsuit, wrote in a blog post on Nov. 17.

“It took the FDA precisely 108 days from when Pfizer started producing the records for licensure to when the FDA licensed the Pfizer vaccine,” Siri continued. “Taking the FDA at its word, it conducted an intense, robust, thorough, and complete review and analysis of those documents in order to assure that the Pfizer vaccine was safe and effective for licensure. While it can conduct that intense review of Pfizer’s documents in 108 days, it now asks for over 20,000 days to make these documents available to the public.” – The Epoch Times

Want to find out about the vaccines? Well, all you have to do is wait until 2096, and you can review the response from the FDA then.

Most of the treatments in the table are drugs, and however, C19 Early also includes natural substances in the comparison table. I noted that the following natural supplements were often as effective as the drug treatments.

  1. Melatonin
  2. Vitamin A
  3. Vitamin D
  4. Zinc
  5. Vitamin C (although the effect was low)

Not Just for Covid?

This got me thinking that these supplements may not be related to fighting covid specifically but are simply vitamins, minerals, and in the case of Melatonin a hormone, that the population is deficient in generally. These deficiencies then undermine the immune system’s ability to do its job.

This video explains how Vitamin D is a critical component in both how the immune system responds but also moderates the immune system, which allows the immune system to not go into overdrive (which is autoimmunity) and to not be too low, which is when the immune system does not react appropriately. In this way, Vitamin D is critical for those with autoimmune disorders.

This study in the video recommends 4,000 to 10,000 international units per day. That level is too high to obtain from even a healthy diet.

This means that Vitamin D requires supplementation.

The Issue of Vitamin and Mineral Deficiency in the US Population

Widespread deficiency is known with Vitamin D. And this deficiency is thought to be one of the reasons why dark-skinned people living in environments with lower amounts of sun than where they evolved, succumbed to the virus at higher rates. (Although the risk for anyone but the weakest immune systems is extremely low). This has been uncovered because the preferred explanation has been systemic and endemic racism. Talking about racism is very exciting for journalists, talking about Vitamin D deficiency is far less enticing.

Zinc is a second item, in this case, a mineral, that most of the US population is deficient. This is why Zinc lozenges are so common for treating colds. However, if one is deficient in Zinc, then it makes sense to supplement to keep the immune system working well.

Zinc lozenges are easy to find in retail outlets and are taken by millions of cold suffers every year.

Zinc lozenges work because they address a mineral deficiency prevalent in the population, improving the immune response of those who take them.

However, apparently, recommending Zinc to allow the immune system to work as efficiently against the covid virus (a coronavirus like the common cold) is not part of public health policy and is not “following the science.” So for one coronavirus (the common cold), we talk about improving immune response. Still, for another coronavirus (covid), we can only beat the virus by getting universal vaccination (including many boosters as new variants arrive and as the vaccines decline from their already ineffective level of protection).
