- For years SAP has said that CRM 7.0 was the best product in the field.
- In this article, we review the accuracy of this claim.
What SAP Said About SAP CRM 7.0 Being the Best Product in the Field
In a 2008 debate with Mark Benioff of Salesforce, Hasso Plattner stated that SAP CRM 7.0 was the “best product in the field.”
SAP made little headway in the market for CRM systems since 2008. The CRM application is rarely discussed in SAP projects. SAP’s shortcomings in the CRM market have prompted it to declare that “CRM is dead,” which seems entirely self-serving. We cover this is the article Why SAP Says that CRM Has Failed.
What Actually Happened with SAP CRM 7.0?
Neither SAP CRM 7.0 nor any subsequent version of SAP CRM has ever been considered best in the field by anyone except SAP. And this fact is widely known.
Conclusion and Calculation
SAP receives a 0% accuracy rating on SAP CRM 7.0 being the best in the field. But Hasso’s statement was even less accurate than 0%, as SAP CRM never became a prominent product in SAP suite.
