How Blacks and Black Management Led to The Decline of Gary Indiana

Executive Summary

  • This article examines the role of African Americans in the decline of Gary, Indiana.

Introduction

This article will cover what blacks and black management did to Gary Indiana.

Comparing the Similarities of What Happened to Detroit to Gary, IN

The best way to understand what happened in Detroit is to examine a graph of the same phenomenon in Gary, Indiana. Gary and Detroit are not two different stories. They are the same story.

  • Step #1: White develops a city.
  • Step #2: Blacks move to the city to gain employment opportunities.
  • Step #3: The city has been sustainable for decades, but the black population continues to rise.
  • Step #4: At a certain point, the growth of the black population over-strains the white society — and then white flight takes over. White flight is continual — and it eventually leaves the black population as the highest percentage of any group in the city. The city increasingly becomes a recipient of federal aid. At this point, the town becomes a permanent drain on federal resources, pulling more from the federal government than it pays in taxes.
  • Step #5: Without whites or with far fewer whites, the black population is unable on their own to replace what the whites created, and the city goes into a doom loop.

City Example #3: Gary, Indiana

This graphic illustrates the growth of the white population before that of the black population. This is the norm. Whites will build up a city, and the blacks are drawn to the town for employment. Blacks and whites increased significantly from 1940 to 1950, but after the 1950s, there was no more growth in the US population. The white population stabilizes, and then — as the black population continues to rise, there is a slight decline from 1960 to 1970. Now, the black and white populations are nearly equal, with approximately 90,000 individuals in each group. After this point, the white population declines steeply, dropping to around 13,000 by 2000 and 7,000 in 2010. Some blacks also moved away, but the majority stayed. Gary is in 2023, just like Detroit, 80% black) Gary, Indiana, is now considered a horrible place to live for decades.

It should be noted that there is no example I am familiar with where the pattern above works in reverse or the opposite way. That is there is no example of a city that is built up by blacks, and then whites move there to benefit from the employment. Then, the black employers and black population leave the city, and the town then falls into disrepair and becomes a significant recipient of government welfare.

The Role of Gary Steel in Bringing Blacks to Gary and in Gary’s Decline

This video makes a good point that the boom times in Gary were so strong that employers like Gary Steel Works would hire people on the spot. The problem with this is that it led to Gary Steel Works employing black employees. Gary Steel Works didn’t care about the long-term sustainability of the city, as long as they could get the employees they needed at a low cost.

Companies and the wealthy consistently do this. They bring in people and employ them. That while they may be suitable for the company, at least in the short term, they are entirely unsuitable for maintaining the society that already exists. This issue applies to hiring illegal aliens and to bringing in enormous numbers of H-1B Indians into the country, who are a terrible fit for the U.S. society and who degrade U.S. society and reduce the trust built up by whites. This short-term orientation is evident in Gary Works’ lack of environmental concern, as explained by this comment.

No disrespect, but you left out a huge puzzle piece. Gary basically destroyed most of the natural sand dune lakefront in northwest Indiana. Sand is used in steel. Along with that, the mills grew up in pre-environmental regulation days. It was common in the 1970s to see dead fish washing up on the few remaining beaches. The demise of Gary was likely due to mills forced to meet EPA regs, but the cost was too high so the moved ( uh, to China?, India?). Anyway, these days, some of remaining dunes are a preserved national park. But Gary itself is mostly a brownfield status. Polluted soil everywhere. It simply can’t compete with other cleaner cities. This generation is paying the price of 2-3 generations ago winning the steel race, at any cost.

As a resident of this area since I was born I can attest to the absolute environmental destruction that the Gary steel works cast across of northern Indiana it helped build or nation but at the cost of the ground soil and water we rely upon to survive, truly a lapse in human judgment.

Michigan city had a massive sand dune that was completely wiped out because of steel and the Ball Jar Company as well. Now we only have one dangerous dune left.

Comment #3: Stopping the Car to Puke?

My grandpa told me about driving through Gary when he was a boy. This would have been just after the war, so 1946 or ’47. He grew up in DeKalb, IL, and his family would travel to see relatives in Ohio. The smog and fumes from the steel mills was so thick and smelled so horrible that once they made it a few miles outside of Gary his dad had to pull the car over and everyone would get out and puke.

Comment #4: Growth at Any Cost

Ignoring environmental consequences is all well and good when you’re a fat cat CEO counting cash, but it sure sucks to be the workers and their families dropping dead a half-century early from cancer and black lung. These places are deadly.

Comment #5: Endless Infrastructure in Gary?

I drove past Gary on the way to Chicago last summer for the first time and I’ve never seen anything like it. Just endless infrastructure and manufacturing plants for miles and miles and miles. I was actually awed by it to be honest.

What Happened to Gary, Indiana, as the Black Population Dramatically Rose?

As the black population of Gary continued to grow, several developments occurred. First, Gary began to be considered a less desirable place to find employees — as blacks are generally known as poor workers with lower skills and lower intelligence and impulse control than whites. Second, as the black population rose, the city became less desirable as crime increased and personal behavioral standards declined. The rising black population also meant a decline in trust in Gary’s society. As with Detroit, this provided a reason for companies to relocate away from Gary, and for non-blacks, particularly, to begin moving. This pattern also repeats internationally, as is demonstrated in this quote in an article on white flight in Wikipedia.

About 800,000 out of an earlier total population of 5.2 million whites left post-apartheid South Africa after 1995, according to a 2009 report in Newsweek. The country has suffered a high rate of violent crime, a primary stated reason for emigration. Other causes cited in the Newsweek report include attacks against white farmers, concern about being excluded by affirmative action programmes, political instability and worries about corruption. Many of those who leave are highly educated, resulting in skills shortages. Some observers fear the long-term consequences, as South Africa’s labor policies make it difficult to attract skilled immigrants. In the global economy, some professionals and skilled people have been attracted to work in the U.S. and European nations.

This is because, as with South Africa and Gary, no racial group has even been found that wants to live around blacks.

Blacks in Gary who moved there and lived there from the 1900s to 1960 greatly benefited. However, the problem was that they continually increased their population percentage. As is always the case, Gary was only sustainable with blacks in a significant minority. As their percentage of the population of Gary grew, they began to take control of the political apparatus, which is the death sentence for any city. To prove this point, let us look at the history of Detroit’s public finances.

How Gary Indiana Was Cut Off From by the City of Hammond

As is shown at the beginning of this video, a city near Gary, named Hammond, decided to wall off a road so that blacks from Gary would not visit their city. I have never seen this before. However, this shows what happens when a city becomes nearly entirely black. Any city that can keep blacks from visiting and particularly moving to their city will be much better off.

This is the logic for redlining, as I cover in the article What is Wrong With Whites Engaging in Redlining?

Notice in this article that there is no mention that the decline of the city was due to the city being dominantly black, and this caused Gary to become a hellhole. People do not feel comfortable making this obvious statement. The goal of such videos is to try to blame anything except blacks.

At the 7:30 mark in the video, it states the following.

Black residents were proud of their city and happy to have some measure of political control. Its unfortunate that this change in political landscape is the exact moment that US Steel began to layoff workers.

Was it unfortunate or predictable? Notice that this, as with all explanations I have read, attempts to make it sound as if the company’s decline has nothing to do with the rise in black workers at the companies in Gary, Indiana. However, if this same thing is repeated in countless cities, and companies begin to decline when blacks become a significant percentage of the population in a city — then blacks increasing as a population must be considered a factor. The only reason it is not considered a causal factor is that the person who brings up this obvious point will be called a racist and be ostracised. This demonstrates that humans are adept at being dishonest and adjusting the causes they attribute to events based on the personal cost to themselves.

In the first part of the above quote, it states that black residents were happy to have some measure of political control. However, there has never been a case where blacks have had some measure of political control and led to better outcomes. Giving blacks the right to vote has not improved anything. It’s made everything worse. It’s made it worse for black people, also.

Black cities in the US are the most corrupt and poorly run cities in the country. The companies and people of Gary, Indiana, had a legitimate concern that as soon as black politicians began to be elected, the city would move into a doom loop. It was rational for non-blacks and companies to leave Gary then. The successful history of Gary was when Gary was almost entirely white — or when blacks were in the minority. As soon as a sufficient percentage of blacks were in the population of Gary, the city began the standard black city doom loop.

At the 7:50 mark of the video, it states.

Gary’s steel mills began to fall victim to de-industrialization. This is when one region’s industries decline as it becomes cheaper to import the same goods from someplace else. This phenomena stuck the entire rust belt hard, but perhaps none as hard as Gary. Production had picked up in the 1980s and 1990s, but automation had rendered most jobs obsolete.

This assumes that there was no change to the factories when many black workers were hired. However, blacks are known as poor workers — which is a reason they are discriminated against. It is very difficult to believe that the US Steel factory in Gary functioned as well with black workers as it had when the workers were predominantly white. Furthermore, the motivation of the white workers would also have been negatively impacted, as they would have had to work with blacks and then live in a black city. Again, in earlier years, the number of blacks was far fewer, but as the number of blacks continually increased, it would have created natural problems. All of this is left of the video, which assumes that productivity would have stayed the same as blacks became a much larger percentage of factory workers, and that the reduction in jobs was entirely due to external factors.

Gary’s was highly concentrated in steel production — however, so was Pittsburgh’s. The steel mills in Pittsburgh experienced the same international competition, but Gary, not Pittsburgh, became a haven for crime. Why? Well, which city had the highest black population? That would be Gary. Here is a quote from someone on the Gary video.

My mother in law, aged 70 now, grew up in Gary. Lots of interesting stories. Her and her brothers used to play with Michael Jackson and one of his brothers when they were younger. She has lots of memories of how dangerous it was even in back in her time. Having to carry a butcher knife to the bus stop early in the mornings and almost getting gang raped while she waited at the library for her brother to pick her up outside. It was rough as far back as she could remember.

Does that sound like something that would happen in a nearly all-white city? Would such behavior have potentially caused white flight from Gary?

Abandoned in Gary in a Train?

I used to take the train from my Uni to Chicago weekly, and Gary was always on the way back and forth. First time I saw it I thought I was in a COD zombies map. Most memorable was when I fell asleep and while I was asleep the compartment I was in was detached from the rest of the train and left off to the side some ways away from the main platform. Nothing quite like waking up from a nap, inside of an unpowered train compartment, in the middle of Gary, IN.

Interesting Background Information Comment

You missed some significant points regarding Gary. 1) Much of the population decline was the result of the city being split in two. The then predominantly White portion of the city became neighboring Merrillville. 2) Production from many of those mills in Pennsylvania was consolidated into Gary. Gary makes more steel now with under 5,000 workers than it previously did with 25,000. 3) US Steel made over $4 Billion in 2021, most of it out of Gary. However, that tax base largely goes to support the rest of the state rather than the local community. 4) The thing that brought the steel mill to Gary in the first place now exists in even greater abundance, unmatched transportation resources. Two of the 3 coast-to-coast interstates pass through Gary, as does one of the 3 Great Lakes-to-Gulf Coast interstates. Twelve of the 15 major east-west rail lines pass through the region, and 3 pas directly through the city. The city has an international airport, where Boeing (currently based in Chicago) keeps its fleet of corporate jets. The city also has seaports with ocean access and commuter rail access to downtown Chicago. And, decrepit Gary is also immediately adjacent to a US national park (Dunes National Park) as well as excellent beaches of its own, which are never shown in videos about Gary. The area is a popular summer destination for Chicago residents.

This sort of brings up the question of why someone, companies, government etc..have not done something to take advantage of Gary’s ideal location? Obviously, these entities would have to deal with high amounts of crime from the black population. The usefulness of Gary’s location is undeniable.

Economic activity in the city has not really slowed down, but the jobs went away. What the city really needs is a new transportation based employer to replace the steel jobs lost to automation.

Did Racism Cause the Radical Decline of Gary, IN?

In this video, many of the black inhabitants of Gary, IN, blame racism for the decline of Gary.

In this video, many of the blacks being interviewed state that whites left Gary, Indiana, and took their businesses with them. However, why weren’t the blacks able to replace the whites in their companies? Was there something about the demographic shift from predominantly white to predominantly black in Gary, Indiana, that made opening or running a business there less appealing?

Yes, there was.

Let’s review some of these issues.

Observation #1: How Blacks are Not Sustainable Customers — and Serve as Parasites on Non-Black Customers

In the article “The Benefits of Getting Rid of Black Customers,” it is shown that any business can benefit from reducing the number of black customers it has to serve, and that black customers are unsustainable for a company. Furthermore, black’s customers are essentially parasites on other customers. The evidence I have for this is that once a certain threshold, as a percentage of overall customers, is reached, which is black, companies tend to close down. What this means is that the only reason that many businesses that sell to black customers stay open is not for the black customers, but for non-black customers. If it were legal, many companies would likely institute a policy of not serving black customers. This is how the Jim Crow system worked, and was the reason for the Jim Crow system in the first place.

However, and unfortunately, it’s not currently legal in the U.S. for companies to do that, which means they have to come up with other ways to minimize the number of black customers they have to serve. This is what the article above is about — how to dissuade black people from patronizing your business.

Black customers can parasitize non-black customers as long as the stores and businesses are required to serve black customers. However, once a sufficient percentage of black customers is reached, the company is allowed to close its store, saving it from having to deal with black customers. This means that for open businesses that serve black customers, the black customers are being subsidized by the non-black customers.

Observation #2: Whites Just Left – Not Telling Blacks — is an Example of Racism?

One of the men being interviewed states that the whites just left without telling them that they were going to leave. It appears that blacks believe that whites should be forced to live around them even if they don’t want to. That is, blacks seem to deny the right of freedom of association.

However, this same black man, when he became a father, wanted to get out of the city to give his children opportunities that he didn’t have. However, that seems to mean that this black man moved out of the city into the suburbs because of black crime. And therefore, he engaged in the type of flight that he is criticizing whites for engaging in earlier. One has to wonder if the area that this man moved to is whiter than the black area that he moved away from. If that’s true, then isn’t that a form of racism on his part? Notice that he does not categorize it as racism or trying to get away from blacks.

The double standard here is obvious. Blacks can engage in black flight from black areas. However, whites should not engage in white flight from black areas.

Something the whites can’t deny, something that the blacks and Gary cannot deny, is that the city went into a steep decline when the whites began to leave. And the blacks were unable to maintain the level of the city that the whites had no problem maintaining.

Observation #3: The Steel Mill Closing Had Nothing to do With the Rising Black Population of Gary, IN?

This is a constant feature of analyzing cities that have experienced decline after black residents have moved there. Even though businesses continually close when blacks move to an area, the liberal idea, and in fact the conventional wisdom, is that this can never be blamed on blacks and that blacks are only victims of this phenomenon. However, if it happens every single time blacks move to an area, then how can it be considered a random phenomenon that has nothing to do with them? And it’s not only large steel mills. Grocery stores close when the percentage of their black customers becomes too high.

I propose that blacks made Gary not only a much less attractive place to live but a much more difficult place to do business, and that the movement of blacks into Gary made the steel factory less efficient and less able to compete. Furthermore, if blacks had never moved to Gary, Gary would most likely be very similar to how it was before the blacks moved there. However, the blacks being interviewed in this documentary video have absolutely no guilt about this. They completely uproot their lives and deal with the blacks immigrating to their city, and deal with a complete change in their city, making it undesirable to them. And the only thing the blacks can think about is how terrible it is that the white people moved away from them. Right after that, they talk about how they had to move away from parts of Gary, Indiana, too, because essentially there were too many niggers.

They appear to think absolutely nothing of what their people destroyed that had been built up before they ever showed up.

Another Claim That Racism and Segregation Killed Gary

This quote is from the article White flight followed factory jobs out of Gary, Indiana. Black people didn’t have a choice.

He pivots into a frustration about Gary now, about the emptiness, the factories closed, and the shops boarded up.

“Segregation did this to Gary. When the jobs left, the whites could move, and they did. But we blacks didn’t have a choice. They wouldn’t let us into their new neighborhoods with the good jobs, or if they let us, we sure as hell couldn’t afford it. Then to make it worse, when we looked at the nice houses they left behind, we couldn’t buy them because the banks wouldn’t lend us money.”

Interestingly, good jobs often seem to be located in predominantly white areas. The good jobs always seem to be created by whites. Why can’t blacks create good jobs on their own? In black, everything seems to be about convincing whites to let them into their area so that they can benefit from what whites have created. Is there any history of blacks creating something and then letting people from other races come in and benefit from what blacks created?

This overall commentary attempts to put all of the blame on Gary’s decline on whites not catering to blacks. However, it also suggests that blacks seem to be admitting that they can’t do anything without being around whites. They never seem to understand that if they have to be around whites to be successful or even to be marginally functional, they are parasitizing off of the white society. This is like a student who only does well in tests when he’s sitting next to a student who is much more knowledgeable than he is. Once that student is moved away from that table location, their test scores dramatically decrease. The reason for this is quite obvious. The second student is cheating off the first student.

Blacks also seem to leave out the fact that whites have other reasons for not wanting to be around blacks. One of them is a general degradation of behavior, and also a massive increase in crime and theft.

The quote continues.

As for those growing up in Gary now, “I would tell the kids to leave. Go get an education and go to where the jobs and opportunities are. They are not here in Gary any more. That is just the truth.”

Yes, and that will mean infiltrating more white areas.

Walking around Gary – seeing one crumbled home after another –it is hard to imagine anyone would want to stay here. But some have little choice, confined by a lack of opportunity, unequal access to education, and racism.

How much racism can blacks and Gary be having to deal with? The city is known as being highly segregated, and is more than 84% black — therefore, blacks and Gary are mostly around other blacks. How can they continue to complain about racism when they have, in effect, taken over the entire city?

They say places are what you make of them, but is hard to make something beautiful when it is shit.

Who made Gary shit? Blacks made Gary shit. And yet they take zero responsibility for this.

Observation #4: How The Black Population Quite Obviously Ruined the High-Trust Society of Built by Whites in Gary, IN

Many of the older men interviewed in this video state that they enjoyed growing up in Gary. And what they’re essentially describing in terms of families looking out for each other is a high-trust society. However, what they don’t seem to acknowledge is that it is the black population that has so significantly degraded the trust in society. Therefore, the things that the black men in this video describe that they like about growing up in Gary. The white-built high-trust society that their families eventually degraded.

Cash Only Restaurant?

As the interviewers get lunch, they describe a restaurant that had good food — however, they then say that the restaurant is “cash only.” However, why would the restaurant be cash only? That is extremely odd. However, it’s not at all odd once you realize what black, run, and inhabited cities do to thrust in that society.

Getting Away from Violent Niggers in Chicago — By Moving to Gary, IN?

Some of the children who are interviewed in the video state that they moved there to get away from the shooting in Chicago because they stated that every single night, there’s a shooting. This is black families that are fleeing from black violence and from another city or part of a city that has been ruined by blacks, causing them to move to Gary, Indiana. You don’t need to project what blacks do to cities. This case study as well as all other black cities makes it extremely obvious about what they do to cities.

The interview states that they receive a lot of “people coming in from Chicago,” which is increasing the violence levels in Gary, Indiana, already a terrible situation.

However, notice that he does not specify the racial background of the people moving from Chicago to Gary, Indiana. They could be from any ethnic background, such as Chinese or Swedish, rather than just “people.” Yes — well its 100 black people.

Comments on The Terrible Crime in Gary

Comment #1: Off the Charts Crime?

Living in the area. I’m knowing quite a few people from Gary Indiana. I have found that a lot of people share the exact same sentiment as the lady. Its horrible and the crime is absolutely off the charts. Alot of the shit that happens is never reported. I regularly drive through and work in Gary and the surrounding cities. It is sad to say, but it is every bit as bad as people say it is.

As someone who has visited Detroit numerous times throughout all of the city, I will still say that Gary is by far the most depressing city I have ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot of hoods. I’m not saying Detroit isn’t depressing because it’s a close runner up on a much larger scale, but for Gary to be as small as it is, it still took the cake for me so that says a lot. Also, ironically, enough every time I visited Detroit, it has been gloomy, wet and rainy which one would think would add to the depressing feel. However, I have visited Gary in the middle of the summer, bright and sun shining and still felt more depressing

Comment #3: Steal the Wheels at the Light?

In the mid 90’s I was working high end residental construction in cwntral Indiana abd we had a client in Gary that was noving to Indianapolis. We were in Gary for a meeting to the client’s home when we stopped at a red light in downtown Gary. My boss was on the phone with the client’s wife when she asked where we where. My boss told her and she imediately yelled in the phone for him to move even if it meant running the red light. At that moment I looked behind the truck and there were three men walking toward the truck with blocks, a jack, and a lug wrench. They were planning on stealing the wheels off the truck while we sat at the light!

A few months later another emplyee was driving through Gary and someone tried to steal a wooden door out of the back of a pick-up while they were driving down the street.

Comment #4: Don’t Stop at a Stop Sign?

A couple decades ago, I was on my way to Chicago. It was 3:00 AM, and we were damn near out of gas. So, we got off the expressway on the border of Gary and East Chicago, Indiana. It looked like a scene from a postapocalyptic movie; homeless people wandering, dealers on the corner, and burned out buildings. A police officer who was at the gas station told us how to get back to the expressway. He said these exact words while giving us directions, “Do not stop at the stop sign. Go straight through it. Those guys on the corner are gone. They already scoped you out. If you stop, you will get jacked.”

Comment #5: Razor Wire Around the Truck Yard?

I used to work for a trucking company that had a terminal in Gary. We had armed guards and a chain link fence topped with razor wire around the entire yard. You couldn’t spend more than a couple of hours there without hearing gun fire, and we were expressly forbidden to stop anywhere inside the city unless absolutely necessary. If one of us wanted to go to the store, we had to travel in a group or we couldn’t sign out the company car. I was glad to change companies and not have to go back there again.

Comment #6: Escorted Back to the Interstate?

Way back in the 1990’s, myself and some friends (all Canadian) were traveling thru the area. We made a few wrong turns and ended up in Gary. Within minutes a cop car approached us. When they found out we were from elsewhere, they immediately escorted us back to the interstate.

Comment #7: Rockford Worse than Gary?

We ended up staying in Rockford, Illinois, which, unbeknownst to us at the time, is even worse than Gary! We spent a rather nervous night in a hotel there and got the hell out as early as possible.

Comment #8: Gas Stations Robbed While Gassing Up?

When I used to drive into Chicago, I’d stop in Gary to get gasoline and I think that each and every time I was gassing up in Gary, whatever gas station I was gassing up at was also simultaneously getting robbed at gun point.

Comment #9: Shit Smeared on Every Surface?

I was on my way home from Chicago and was in Gary and had to use the bathroom. I stopped at Wendy’s and went in and there was, very literally, shit smeared on every surface in the room. Another time I was passing through and there was a kid, maybe 12, sitting on a bicycle drinking a 40 with a gun in his waistband. It’s a fun novelty filled place. I recommend everyone visit there.

Comment #10: Gunshots Throughout the Night?

A friend and I a few years ago went to Gary to stay the night in a factory for a “homeless project”. We found a giant building with a managers office we could lock ourselves in for a safe night. We’ll we were far from safe. We didn’t sleep a wink cause we heard gun shots all night and a few were at the building we were staying in. You’d just hear a “BANG” and a pop sound of the aluminum walls being hit by a bullet. But every hour we heard 1 to multiple gun shots and it makes you wonder why.

Remember that Gary, Indiana, was a relatively low-crime city before African Americans migrated there. The overwhelming majority of the crime that is perpetrated in Gary, Indiana, is committed by blacks.

Observation #5: The Decivilizing Effect of Blacks on a Previously White City

For example, the video contains numerous images of buildings in Gary, Indiana, that are in complete disrepair. This does not appear to occur in white cities. As in Detroit, many parts of the city are essentially being reverted to wilderness. This is the decivilizing effect that blacks have on a city.

How Gary Has The Stigma of Being Known as a Black City

Once a city is known as predominantly black, it is nearly impossible to recover from that reputation, as explained in the following video.

As Gary continues to become more and more black, it is a massive recipient of Federal welfare, food stamps, etc…

Abandoned Schools

At the 52-minute mark in the video, repeated images of closed schools are shown. This is what happens to cities that are taken over by blacks: much of the population moves away, and the schools are abandoned. The amount of waste is enormous. All these buildings were built, and people used to use them until black people moved into the city. And now the schools have to be closed because the city is in the process of slowly being shut down. That generalizes to other buildings. There is simply an enormous number of abandoned buildings in Gary that white people used to use, but can no longer use because they cannot live in Gary.

Unending Fake Plans to Improve the City That Cannot Work

After blacks take over a city like Gary, the black politicians come up with a seemingly unending number of development ideas to bring the city back to its former glory. The city of Gary, Indiana, has continually promised that blighted areas would be redeveloped, but which end not been redeveloped. However, all of these plans ultimately fail to materialize or are significantly overstated. And it doesn’t change the fundamental problem that the population of the city is still black.

Gary’s Inability to Attract Investment?

At the one-hour and 27-minute mark of the video, the narrator states that Gary has been relentlessly promoted as a good city to invest in. However, this has not brought investment to Gary. He states the calls have been falling on “deaf ears.”

It’s illogical for a business to invest in a predominantly black area, and it is also illogical to invest in a city that black politicians run. As Gary has been a predominantly black-run city politically, the city lacks credibility and is perceived as incompetent.

Gary’s Crime Warning Sign

The following sign was posted by members of a police union in Gary, Indiana, in the early 1990s.

This sign should also say that Gary is infested with blacks, and this is the reason for the horrendous crime in Gary, Indiana.

The problem is that after destroying Gary, Indiana, the blacks are migrating away from Gary, Indiana, where they will ruin other cities that they migrate to.

Merritville — Another City Created by Whites — Now Ruined by Blacks

For example, as pointed out by American Renaissance, many of the whites moved to a new city called Merrittville. However, that did not allow them to get away from the blacks who have now immigrated to Merrittville, turning that city roughly 40% black. Naturally, the blacks in Gary were trying to get away from other blacks and move to a white area. Now, because of blacks, Merritville has been massively degraded. See this quote from American Renaissance.

No town in America is safe from the Black Undertow.

Gary was overwhelmed, to the point where without the infusion of $200+ million of stimulus funds in 2009 it would have ceased to be a city.

This is the legacy of the Black Migration from the South, an event that has led to the ruin of Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, and decentralized the Black dysfunction that was once reserved solely for slave-holding states.

Questions that will never, ever be answered. Instead, billions upon billions of stimulus must be spent to try and “save” cities like Detroit and Gary–the reason being that “Manifest Destruction” destroyed the social capital, community, and infrastructure that white people had created before their arrival.

Without restrictive covenants, the future of all American cities resembles that of Gary, Indiana.

Furthermore, the US Federal Government has been constantly sending money to Gary to try to make Gary a testament to what a black city can be. This is found in the article When Blacks rule , the decline of the City of Gary/Indiana.

Gary was also seen as an experiment for black political leadership. Wanting to help Gary become a black success story, the federal government had been funneling money to the city since the 1960s, for housing, for job training, for initiatives like the Model Cities Program and the War on Poverty.

But at the same time, jobs dried up, poverty deepened and crime worsened. Gangs took control of the streets, and the murder rate was among the worst in the nation. By the time the federal money dried up in the 1980s Hatcher, one of the first two big-city black mayors in the nation, was identified with failure. In the 20 years he was in power, the city lost a third of its population, U.S. Steel cut 20,000 jobs, and city services had become so bad that thousands of homes were abandoned.

If Gary could deport all the blacks in the city to different places, Gary could easily come back and make the city pleasant again. But he cannot do so with such a substantial black population.

The Liberal Cover Up of The Degradation of Gary

To cover up this enormous failure, liberals and the traditional wisdom have moved to claiming that the decline of Gary, Indiana, had nothing to do with blacks and is the fault of either the steel mill closing or the fact that whites moved away due to their racism. This narrative is so dominant that you’re not even allowed to declare the opposite in public without being personally attacked, cancelled, and having your employment threatened.

Could the Black Migration Have Been Stopped?

One of the best things the population of Gary could have done during the Great Migration was to stop any blacks from moving to Gary by any means necessary. That means that black migration to Gary ultimately led to only one possible outcome: the eventual ruination of Gary. This is true of all cities that have received significant black migration. This is the reason there was redlining, which I cover in the article Was is Wrong for Whites to Engage in Redlining?

It is also why the South had Jim Crow laws and why South Africa had apartheid.

There are a great deal of complaints about how terrible Jim Crow laws are and how bad apartheid was.

However, Gary, Indiana, is evidence of what happens when you don’t have these things, instead of engaging in racist segregationist policies that would keep blacks away from the civilization that whites created. In Gary, Indiana, they were allowed to ruin the society completely, which is a massive success story according to the conventional wisdom and to liberals.

The Dominance of Blacks in the Violence Statistics in the US

Why Other Races Flee Black Areas

Whites and other races flee from blacks for very good reasons. In the US blacks are the number one racial group that victimizes other racial groups with violent crime. Black culture is harmful to both blacks and anyone else who is around blacks. Blacks themselves know this. However, they don't usually admit it to other races and prefer to blame everything else but themselves. For blacks to effectively race scam -- they have to hold the position that blacks behave the same and deserve the same outcomes as other races.

All Races Are the Same?

This is a part of the root of the problem. This proposal that all races are the same had no evidence to support it, yet it was asserted because it was politically correct. It was an appealing lie to believe because it "felt good."

Once this idea took hold, it now became a platform to say that all races should have the same things, and this has primarily been interpreted as non-whites invading white spaces and countries and taking their society from them.

Blacks want white outcomes, but because they can't produce white outcomes on their own, they have to invade white societies to obtain them, and their tool is not producing these things themselves but by taking them through living in white-originated societies.

The Repeating Pattern Seen Everywhere Blacks Exist

When blacks move into a neighborhood, that area becomes undesirable. Shoplifting increases, violence increases, and sexual assault increases. This leads to stores closing and a downward spiral for that area. The higher the percentage of the population that is black, the more predominant this and many other negative behaviors become as they begin to behave in conformance with black culture and expectations rather than conforming.

What Would Happen if the US Had No Blacks?

Blacks are a massive civilization threat to any country, society, or city that accepts them. All countries, except white countries, have figured out not to have blacks live in their borders.

Here is some food for thought: “What if all the Blacks suddenly left America, which is 13.3% of the total U.S. population?” and these statistics would improve.

  • Amount of people in poverty would drop - 34%
  • The prison population would go down - - 37%
  • Welfare recipients would go down by - - - 42%
  • Gang members would go down by - - - - - 53%
  • Chlamydia cases would go down by - - - - - 54%
  • Homelessness would go down - - - - - - - - 57%
  • Syphilis would go down - - - - - - - - - - - - 58%
  • AIDs & HIV would go down - - - - - - - - - - 65%
  • Gonorrhea would go down - - - - - - - - - - 69%
  • Average ACT scores would go up - - - - - - 5.5 points
  • Average IQ would go up - - - - - - - - - - - - 7.4 points, (this is how much only 13% of the population in drags down IQ scores) This would put the U.S. 3rd in the world tied with Japan
  • Average SAT scores would go up almost - - - 100 points
  • The average income for Americans would go up over $20,000 a year

Blacks are major users of subsidies from the rest of the taxpaying population. This burden (some of which used to help blacks reproduce more blacks) would be lifted from the rest of the population

The effect on cities would be profound. All of the predominantly black cities from Detroit to East St Louis to Baltimore to Atlantic City, Wilmington Deleware -- every city would experience an immediate and radical improvement.

Blacks as a Civilizational Threat

Blacks are a civilizational threat to any area, any city, and they seek to infiltrate white cities and countries because they have no ability to create functional societies, as I cover in the article What Happens When Blacks Take Over Management of Cities and Countries from Whites? Therefore, blacks need to infiltrate a society or city that is already built up by another group -- with the inevitable outcome that the area is ruined when a sufficient number of blacks are present.

Conclusion: Understanding The Black Doom Loop

As with every other city that was initially created by whites and then infiltrated by blacks, Gary, Indiana, went into a severe decline because of both blacks and the fact that blacks eventually took over the political apparatus of Gary, Indiana.
