How to Understand AWS’s Advice on Migration
ByPrimary Researcher December 14, 2018March 24, 2021

… Migrated to or Accessed in AWS and Google Cloud?
This book discusses migration, but migration is only part of the story with leveraging the Cloud for SAP and Oracle. Increasingly, companies will place more custom components into the Cloud that will integrate back to on-premises systems, all while leveraging cloud services. AWS’s software will even manage on-premises resources and co-manage with open sources cloud management projects like OpenStack and CloudStack. That is why the book is titled “How to leverage” rather than “how to migrate.”

How to Choose Simple Over Complex Solutions with Cloud Versus SAP and Oracle
ByPrimary Researcher December 14, 2018May 6, 2021

Executive Summary

SAP and Oracle environments are very complex.
AWS, Google Cloud, and other cloud services have the potential of reducing this complexity.

Text Introduction (Skip if You Watched the Video)
Something we find to be less discussed as a philosophical difference is the tendency to choose complexity. SAP and Oracle tend towards making things complex, which (in part) explains the high TCO of SAP and Oracle installations. Several years ago, SAP tried to trick customers that the term simple was …

How to Understand the Differences Between Cloud and On Premises
ByPrimary Researcher December 14, 2018March 26, 2021

Executive Summary

Cloud is critically different from on-premises in the ways described in this article.
We draw distinctions between AWS/GCP and SAP/Oracle.

Introduction
While SAP and Oracle can’t stop talking about the cloud, what tends to be little discussed is that historically SAP and Oracle environments have built their entire business model based upon on-premises. They have been two of the most successful software vendors under the on-premises model. However, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or GCP is the official name for the Google cloud offering (but we will refer to it as “Google Cloud …

How to Understand The Fake Integration Benefits for ERP
ByPrimary Researcher November 8, 2018March 24, 2021

… Cloud and Oracle Sales Cloud, since Oracle ERP Cloud integrates with cloud and on-premises applications from other providers. But companies see advantages in buying cloud applications from the same provider because those apps are designed to work together, eliminating the integration work that’s often required to weave together cloud services from different providers.” – Oracle
This is a complete lie on the part of Oracle, but it is the type of lie frequently told to customers.
The Unfortunate History of ERP “Integration”
Here is a much more effective solution than I have described above: ERP vendors should never have …

SAP's Hat Trick: Confusing Cloud and On Premises S/4HANA
ByPrimary Researcher October 19, 2018July 27, 2022

… themselves from pointing out obvious things if it makes SAP look bad.
The entire scenario would not include the use of the term “force feed,” except for the fact that SAP’s cloud applications lag to such a degree that customers feel they are having things jammed down their throats. This has been going on at Oracle, where cloud product licenses are forced on companies that eventually become shelfware. This force-feeding is because the sales incentives are entirely out of sync with their SAP’s cloud product maturity.
“Many users are concerned that cloud services won’t cover all

Oracle Writes the Most Stupid Article on Cloud Ever
ByPrimary Researcher September 17, 2018March 21, 2021

… to this view, on-demand services from public cloud providers may come at a higher premium than in-house cloud services. When you compare the unit economics of a private cloud solution using high convergence density systems, or engineered systems such as Oracle Exadata, with comparable public clouds, it becomes apparent that the private cloud is usually the lower-cost solution. Public clouds still have a long way to go before the virtuous cycle of early public cloud adopters, who help bring down the unit costs, will attract the next wave of adopters. Consider Amazon, one of the leading …

Oracle Sued for Making False Claims About Cloud Growth
ByPrimary Researcher August 13, 2018January 24, 2024

… such tactics concealed the lack of real demand for Oracle’s cloud services, making the growth unsustainable (and ultimately driving away customers). Among other things, the Company threatened current customers with “audits” of their use of the Company’s non-cloud software licenses unless the customers agreed to shift their business to Oracle cloud programs.”
Oracle is well known for using extensive tactics and audits to control its customers’ purchases.

… maintenance window that starts out as 1 hour and runs into multiple days. If their systems are autonomous, why all this manual work? And why would any customer want this disruption to their business?”
While Larry Ellison is putting batteries in his presentation “reality distortion field generator” and making ludicrous statements to please Wall Street (which is easy, as Wall Street analysts don’t work with the actual software), AWS and Google Cloud Services are making true strides in upgrading and downtime reduction. Having read all of the documents from these parties, I can say that the level of …

How Accurate was Forbes and Bob Evans on AWS, IBM, Microsoft and Google in the Cloud?
ByPrimary Researcher May 21, 2018April 7, 2021

… that I rarely see or use anything from SAP that is not on-premises. Using SAP and Oracle clouds is appalling inefficient, and really the only people that use or talk about SAP or Oracle’s cloud are financially biased SAP or Oracle resources.
So I agree SAP and Oracle cloud services are rubbish, and this is also widely known among those that work with cloud services. But let us find out why Bob Evans thinks their clouds are rubbish and why Bob Evans thinks these mega-vendors are cloud laggards.
Both companies are generating broad and deep growth for …
